PPTC Consultant and Projects Manager for Container Laboratories- Angela Lewis had the the pleasure of attending the Fiji National University- FNU Serology container laboratory; official opening ceremony.
This was possible in collaboration with the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Pacific-Community-SPC .
Attending the ceremony also included the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Health & Medical Services – Fiji- Dr. James Fong, who addressed that the FNU Serology laboratory will assist and fill the infrastructure gaps in wet lab-based research that will generate local evidence required to guide the relevant policy actions of the government. He also added that the findings from the serosurvey will also assist the MHMS-Fiji determine the magnitude of immunity among the Fijian population (post-COVID-19 pandemic and the vaccination programme).
The Pacific Pathology Training Centre-PPTC and the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade is humbled to be able provide these opportunities to the Pacific in terms of Laboratory strengthening and capacity building to improve Pacific health.
